Layout and present-day character
Covering about 32.2 hectares, the grounds bring together a distinctive landscape, funerary monuments and places of remembrance. Historic axes, woodland or park areas and memorials are placed in context on the cemetery tour and cemetery map.
Development of the site
The older western section dates from 1911 and the eastern section from 1936. The 1912/13 crematorium and its modern successor form part of the site’s architectural history; only urn burials have taken place since 1963.
Reading history on site
Memorials, ceremonial halls, vegetation and commemorative areas form part of the historic fabric while remaining sensitive places. Observe closures and funeral ceremonies; individual paths or buildings may be temporarily inaccessible.
